I realized as I made this list that some items would not be as exciting or adventurous as others. However, I was hopeful that this one would help make documenting the adventures a little more “professional” visually. I took the class through PCC (Portland Community College) and it was a six week course during October/ November. I really wish I could say it expanded my horizons and I’m a much better photographer now, but…. To sum up my feelings about the class and what I got from it in one word, it would be “meh”. The teacher, sweet as she was, was very scattered and had a hard time staying on track. With every student having a different camera, it took lots of time to go through each one to make sure they were set up correctly for studying aperture, etc. Also, without having field trips to work and learn at the same time it made it difficult to really get a good feel for what settings needed to be used when. She did have us do a project on our own and I chose a study of the fresh figs from my back yard. Overall my big takeaway is that composition is the most important fact, and most of everything else can be taken care of post shooting. I will continue to practice and get to know my camera better during my future adventures and hopefully with more practice the pictures will get better!
